No long production runs where you make the same component every day. As a Conventional Turner, you will work on different components and repair jobs every time. One day you might be machining steel or stainless steel, while the next job involves aluminium, bronze or plastic.
In the machine shop, you will work with conventional machinery, including lathes and vertical lathes. There is no CNC-controlled production here: your technical insight and craftsmanship make the difference. You set up the machines, determine the best way to machine a component and check the quality and dimensions of your own work.

There is no strict requirement regarding a minimum number of years of experience. What you can actually do independently is more important than the number of years listed on your CV.
Experience in reading technical drawings is an advantage, but not essential. This can be further developed on the job.
You will be working at a small technical family business in Ridderkerk with around 20 employees. The company specialises in the repair, overhaul and surface treatment of industrial and maritime components. It has its own machine shop, coating department and service team.
The company works for customers in sectors including industry, shipping, dredging and yacht building. Because the focus is on repair work rather than mass production, every job can be different. Urgent assignments occur regularly and priorities may change throughout the day.
Within the small team, you will have plenty of independence and opportunities to further develop your technical skills. The aim is to eventually offer a good Conventional Turner a long-term position within the company.
You will work approximately 38 hours per week:
Occasional overtime may be required when urgent repairs need to be completed.
